Cover the majority of your NVQ painting and decorating training with our four-week professional course. The course covers all the basic skills, techniques and knowledge you need to start your own business, including one-week modules on painting, wallpapering, coving and wide vinyls. A final project brings together all your newly acquired skills as you tackle your first real job.
What the course covers:
- Substrates – types and preparation
- Painting systems and understanding colour
- Tools – correct selection and use
- Lining paper and cross lining
- Wallpaper hanging, ceilings, walls, reveals and arches
- Coving – internal and external corners
- Introduction to special effects
- Final exercise – decorating your training bay
- Business start-up training
- CSCS Health and Safety test
After you complete our four week course you will be very close to achieving your NVQ. Just ask us to send out one of our assessors to review your self-employed work and sign off your remaining units as you achieve them, and you'll be able to claim your certificate. Achieving your NVQ will mean:
- You'll have a professional qualification recognised by the construction industry
- You'll find your work opportunities increase – for example you'll be able to work in the lucrative insurance claim market
- You'll attract more customers, because people are more likely to give their business to a qualified trades person
